St. Andrew Christmas Novena Tradition
The tradition of praying the St. Andrew Christmas Novena prayer through the season of Advent goes back over 100 years. Many pray it for their own intentions and those of their loved ones as a way to prepare for Christmas and the new year.
The prayer (see below) is prayed 15 times a day for 25 days from St. Andrew's Feast Day through Christmas Eve.
Although it bears the name of St. Andrew, this novena is not requesting the intercession of St. Andrew (as is typical of other novenas), but instead is directly requesting God to hear your prayer.
