Our Lady of Lourdes is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary from an apparition that occurred in 1858 in Lourdes, France. Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette many times at the Grotto of Massabielle. During one of the apparitions, when asked her name, our Blessed Mother said, “I am the Immaculate Conception". During another apparition, Our Lady asked St. Bernadette to dig a spring and drink from its waters. As word spread, many people drank these waters and were healed of various medical conditions. Miracles continue to occur in modern day, making the Lourdes shrine one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world.
About the Design:
The watercolor on this card is of the Grotto where Our Lady of Lourdes appeared to St. Bernadette. Millions of pilgrims visit this Marian Shrine every year seeking her intercession and to bathe in it's healing waters.
